According to the American Psychological Association, not only does yoga sharpen focus and help with concentration, it can actually help alleviate stress and depression, providing much need release from emotional trauma. Within a daily practice of yoga and focusing on its teachings of spirituality, it can truly aid in creating a more positive and happier outlook on like while providing numerous health benefits within its own.
Strength Training Exercises
Exercise releases endorphins into our body that help create a sense of euphoria and happiness. According to a study done by Rutgers University, is was shown that strength exercises can help reduce stress, anxiety, and depression while providing an instant feeling of positivity. People who have engaged in moderate strength training have actually found that they are more happy than doing higher or lower intensity training, so it is best to find the balance within your workout.
Aerobics
Aerobics and other cardiovascular exercises have also been shown to increase happiness and provide positive benefits to your mental health. The US Department of Health have shown that 30 to 60 minutes of cardiovascular exercise, 3 to 5 times a week increase your positive mental health by providing you a fast-paced, energizing workout that will not make you feel sluggish or drained throughout the day. Within doing aerobics or other cardiovascular exercises, you are provided with a fun and thrilling routine that will leave you feeling hyped and ready to conquer the day.
Hiking
Hiking provides you with a beneficial yet challenging workout that gets you outdoors and lets you experience nature. Not only is it great for your own cardiovascular health, but hiking has shown to create positive effects on your mental health. The International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health performed a study saying that being in nature has been known to increase one’s own emotional well-being. Within hiking, not only will you get the benefits of being outside, but you will be able to feel a sense of accomplishment in finishing a hike that can help boost self-esteem. Plus, it is a good boost of needed confidence!
