This shouldn't just be targeted to wine, for drinking any kind of alcohol has side effects of course. Research shows that it has been linked to an increase in certain cancers, and definitely an increase in calories. One glass of red wine can be 123 calories...which is 860 calories a week. Not to mention, alcohol increases your appetite tremendously, which makes you prone to eat more. Thus a huge side effect of drinking wine every day is weight gain.

Now that we know too much wine is unhealthy, how much wine is healthy then? It's a no-brainer that other drinks such as sparkling water with lemon is a much healthier choice. Nonetheless, saving that glass of wine for an occasional treat or stress-reliever is completely fine. Wine actually delivers many health benefits when enjoyed in moderation. If you are a huge wine drinker though and want to drink wine every day, stick to a maximum of 5 ounces for women, or 10 ounces for men.

Time for the good stuff - the benefits of drinking wine every night. Let's not forget wine is after-all made from grapes, which contain polyphenols. These are substances which act as antioxidants and have many anti-inflammatory properties. Therefore, they can actually help lower “bad” LDL cholesterol, and boost beneficial HDL cholesterol. Red wine in particular has been proven to have many healthy heart benefits, such as preventing blood clots, lowering your blood sugar, and reducing your risk for heart disease. As long as you stick to no more than one glass a day, then cheers to that!

recent research also reveals that drinking any kind of alcohol, especially wine, may help protect against type 2 diabetes. But you don’t have to be heavy handed to sip in the benefits—just one tiny ounce of vino a day may help trim your risk by 20 percent.
