Lessons For Creating Inner Peace

Self-care is important! So despite the many excuses getting in the way of you finding peace of mind, there are infinitely more ways to creating balance for sanity's sake. Here are some lessons we found in creating inner peace.

There is a significant challenge in trying to find inner peace within our society, as let's face it, society has be designed to do so. Many find obstacles getting in their ways: a 9-to-5 work schedule, five days a week; a sporadic day that involves cooking for your family, doing the laundry, and maintaining the cleaning. We often consider these experiences as excuses when it comes to practicing inner peace, but they do not have to be! Self-care is important! So despite the many excuses getting in the way of you finding peace of mind, there are infinitely more ways to creating balance for sanity's sake. Here are some lessons we found in creating inner peace:

First off, What is "Inner Peace"?

Inner peace doesn't have to be defined as completely stepping away from the modern world. Rather, inner peace is the balance between mind and spirit - comparing to that of mindfulness. It is about being present in the moment, being at peace mentally, physically, and emotionally. In finding true inner peace, you need to step back from outer restrictions within society. It means knowing yourself and becoming aware of who you are. Take time to listen to your body and your mind. 

Learn To Step Away and Limit Yourself

If you find yourself often being preoccupied by unnecessary things within your life, such as an app on your phone, it might be for the best to step back and try to limit yourself. In getting busy with the mundane, you are wasting time in doing things that are more important in life. The moments you spend scrolling through your Instagram feed can be used for moments of reflection and self-love. In the end, you will find that within stepping back and setting limitation, you are creating a bigger impact in achieve peace of mind. 

Spend Time Outside

As we have said before in previous posts, being outside can contribute to numerous health benefits. According to the Harvard Health Letter of Harvard Medical School, being outdoors has been proven to increase overall happiness by lowering cortisol levels - which is the hormone that often creates stress. Being outside can also improve short term memory, proven by a test performed by the University of Michigan. With this said, the positive benefits both mentally and emotionally can ultimately help in providing inner peace. 

Take Time To Relax and Practice Deep-Breathing

Sometimes it is actually hard to relax, but it is incredibly beneficial to our well-being. Deep breathing is proven to reduce tension, the Harvard Health Blog stating that, "Deep abdominal breathing encourages full oxygen exchange — that is, the beneficial trade of incoming oxygen for outgoing carbon dioxide that can slow the heartbeat and lower or stabilize blood pressure." Within this practice, deep breathing can drastically improve our health - boosting our immune systems, reducing stress, anxiety, and depression. Taking the time to slow down and relax can help you find peace of mind and stability while bringing you back into the moment. 

It is important in being in-tune to your body both mentally and physically. Take the time in taking care of your body by practicing these tips for creating inner peace!
