Make A List
Making a list is the very first step to stop procrastinating. You need to start somewhere, and that is putting the tasks you've been putting off right in front of you. Whether it's a digital list or written on a sheet of paper, start noting all the important activities that you are delaying or have put on hold. If you've said to yourself "I'll do it tomorrow, later, this weekend, or next month" - it belongs on here. Don't you want the freedom from pressure and self-doubt? Accomplishing tasks you've procrastinated will give you a great boost of confidence and energy.
Get To It
Your tomorrow is now TODAY, and today is right NOW. Once you have the items in front of you, take a good look at your list, and do one thing on it in this very moment. There are no more excuses to be had. Taking action and putting your energy into something you've been avoiding will help eliminate anxiety and make you more motivated to complete the rest. Getting started is honestly the hardest part, so it's important to pick a time (today) to work on the list. Set aside a designated time slot, simply just 30 minutes, to work on that specific job, project, or goal. There's no more "leaving it until later" - what's the worst thing that could happen if you did this today?
Don't Try To Be Perfect
A lot of times, people put off certain tasks because they want it to be just perfect. Well, quit trying to be perfect! What counts in the end is the quality of the effort you put in, not perfect results. Don't let the idea of perfectionism get in the way of you being productive.
Don't Fear The Consequences
You also shouldn't fear the consequences associated with the action you’ve been avoiding. The worst-case scenario most likely will only be a minor inconvenience or a temporary setback, so don't let that stop you. If what you're putting off involves other people, talk to them now! A simple lack of communication could be the only obstacle getting in your way.
