Do you find water too boring? Many people would agree with this. What if we told you that there are other ways to stay hydrated? Though water is the purest form, there are other tricks to try to increase your hydration. Here are some weird ways to stay hydrated yourself.
Juices
Fruit and vegetable juices are a great alternative to plain water, not to mention they taste a whole lot better. Each glass delivers valuable nutrients that will refresh your entire body. Plus, it counts as one of your five daily servings of fruit. If you can’t decide on one particular fruit or vegetable, go for a mixture of a bunch in smoothie form! It's definitely one of the favorite ways to stay hydrated.
Fruits & Vegetables
According to research, 20% of our daily water intake comes from food. That's because most of the food we eat are high in water content, specifically fruits and vegetables. Therefore, you can easily keep your body hydrated by eating more fruits and veggies that contain 85% water or more. Some ways to stay hydrated are eating: cucumbers, lettuce, celery, radishes, tomatoes, cauliflower, bell peppers, spinach, strawberries, watermelons, cantaloupe, peaches, and pineapple.
Coconut Water
Coconut water is called Mother Nature’s sports drink for a reason. It has high electrolyte levels, low-calorie content, more potassium, and fewer carbohydrates than popular sports drinks. Therefore, it's a great way to stay hydrated. Re-hydrate after a mild workout with this tropical beverage, or simply drink it throughout your work day. It's also low in sodium and a healthy drink, so it's great all around.
Sport Drinks
If you're going for a more intense workout, we recommend classic sport drinks. They contain carbohydrates, protein, electrolytes, and sodium that help your body absorb water, increase energy levels, and help you recover. On the flip side though, a sports drink may supply a bit too many unwanted calories. To keep things under control, try making your own sports drink at home or opting for a refreshing glass of water instead.
Milk
One of the most surprising ways to stay hydrated is milk. It's a great source of calcium and protein, while also excellent to re-hydrate after a workout. Some may argue that milk is better than water and sports drinks for re-hydration and recovery after exercising due to the higher levels of carbohydrates and protein. This helps your muscles recover after intensive workouts, which is much needed. Just make sure you go for low-fat milk with minimal sugar and sodium. It'll help your body retain water and energy in no time.
