DIY Beauty Hacks To Try For Social Distancing

DIY Exfoliating Lip Scrub

DIY lip scrubs are easy to make and will leave your lips tasting sweet and feeling exfoliated. The core of an exfoliating lip scrub is the sugary substance that rubs away dead skin. For may basic DIY lip scrubs, you’ll only need two common household ingredients to rejuvenate your lips at home: brown sugar and honey! Here are some recipes to try to give your lips some extra care:

Basic Lip Scrub - 

Gather Together : 

  • 1 Teaspoon of Brown Sugar
  • 1 Teaspoon of Honey

Direction : 

  1. Combine each ingredient in a small dish and apply to your lips. Rub the mixture on your lips for about two to three minutes, rinsing off with cold water. 

Coconut and Honey Lip Scrub - 

Gather Together : 

  • 1 Tablespoon of Coconut Oil
  • 1 Tablespoon of Organic Honey
  • 2 Tablespoons of Brown Sugar
  • 1/2 Tablespoon  of Lukewarm Water

Directions : 

  1. Start by mixing the coconut oil and honey.
  2. Add the brown sugar and the lukewarm water to this mixture.
  3. Rub the mixture on your lips in a circular motion for two to three minutes and then rinse with lukewarm water.

Chocolate Lip Scrub - 

Gather Together : 

  • 1 Tablespoon of Cocoa Powder
  • 2 Tablespoons of Brown Sugar
  • 1 Teaspoon of Vanilla Extract
  • 3/4 Teaspoon of Honey
  • 2 Teaspoons of Olive Oil

Directions

  1. Mix all the ingredients in a glass bowl.
  2. Apply a small amount of the scrub to your lips and rub it in gentle circular motions.
  3. Allow the mask to sit on your lips for a couple of minutes.
  4. Wipe off with a soft wet cloth or wash with lukewarm water.

DIY Hair Masks

Hair masks are a great way to revitalize your hair! Whether you have dryness, flakes, or overly oily hair, there are many hair masks that can prove to be the best! Here are ones that we like:

Honey, Egg, and Apple Cider Vinegar Mask

The issue: Dry hair. If your hair is feeling or looking a little dry, try this honey, egg and apple cider vinegar mask. It is a great hydrating treatment that provides shine and nourishes without weighing down strands!

Gather Together :

  • 1 Teaspoon of Honey
  • 1 Egg
  • 1 Tablespoon on Apple Cider Vinegar

Directions :

  1. Combine in a small bowl. You can double or half the recipe, depending on your hair’s length. Leave it on for 30 to 40 minutes before rinsing. This nourishing treatment works on all hair types.

Coconut Oil, Sugar, and Essential Oil Hair Mask

The issue: Flakes. This exfoliating treatment helps remove and reduce flakes and also doubles as a great facial scrub.

Gather Together : 

  • 2 Tablespoons of Raw Unrefined Coconut Oil
  • 4 teaspoons of Raw Sugar
  • 5 Drops of Peppermint Oil
  • 2 Drops of Tea Tree Oil

Directions:

  1. In a small bowl, mix ingredients together.
  2. Using your fingers or a hair color brush, apply mixture directly to two inch sections of clean, damp hair in the shower.
  3. Once evenly applied, gently massage for 1-3 minutes and then clip your hair up and let it sit for the duration of your shower.

DIY Body Butter or Oil

Coconut is a top ingredient in many skincare products because it packs a lot of benefits. Coconut naturally packs vitamin E, which moisturizes your skin, making it the perfect food to spread all over your body. If you have coconut oil in the house, pour it into your mixer and whip on high to take that oil to a soft and creamy mixture your skin will love. You'll have a base for many amazing body butters and lotions! Here is a recipe that we love:

Makes - 8 Ounces

Gather Together : 

  • 2 Ounces of Coconut Oil
  • 2 Ounces of Shea Butter
  • 2 Ounces of Cocoa Butter
  • 1/3 Cup of Jojoba Oil or Sweat Almond Oil
  • 2 Teaspoons of Arrowroot Powder - Optional
  • 15-30 Drops of Favorite Essential Oils - Like Lavender, Orange Blossom, or even Jasmine

Directions

  1. In a double boiler or glass bowl, combine all ingredients except essential oils.
  2. Bring to medium heat and stir constantly until all ingredients are melted. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
  3. Move to the fridge and let cool another 1 hour or until starting to harden but still somewhat soft.
  4. Use a hand mixer to whip for 10 minutes until fluffy. Add essential oils and whip for another minute.
  5. Store in a glass jar with a lid.
