Working out shouldn’t be intimidating, it should be an activity that boosts your endorphins. Working out keeps your personal well-being at a high! Here are a few workout mistakes we want to warn you about, so that you are better prepared to take on the gym!

  1. Going Into The Gym Without A Plan: There is no sugar-coating the gym intimidation we all feel. The gym can be a scary place, so try and optimize your time there by having a plan. Having a plan allows for you to get it and get out of the gym efficiently.
  1. Doing Too Much Cardio: Cardio is great, but only during a sweet spot. If you over do it in the cardio department, you will plateau. Make sure you are getting the most out of your cardio by hitting the treadmill for no longer than 45 minutes and no shorter than 25!
  1. Do Not Focus On Running: We all want to get in our cardio, but running can decrease muscle mass. For optimal results, you should pair your running with weight training.

Weight training is different for men and women. Generally, weight training is described as a form of strength training that uses weights for resistance. Weight training is a great way to sculpt and tone your body if done properly.

  1. Do Not Over-Train: We all want to get in as much time in the gym as we can, but over-training can be detrimental. Over-training can cause your appetite to sky rocket. This allows your body to go into shock, and can actually cause your body to hold onto fat.
  1. Not Getting Enough Sleep: A solid sleep schedule is key to maintaining a healthy lifestyle. Sleep deprivation paired with a killer workout don't pair well. Sleep deprivation can result in spiked hormone level such as stress, and can slow down muscle recovery.

  1. Relying On A Gym Partner To Workout: Motivate yourself! No one is going to work harder than you in the gym. Those gym gossip sessions may be fun, but no can have the same fitness goals as you.
  1. Not Taking The Time To Recover: Last but not least, recovery is so important when working out. Your body can only take so much at a time. The more intense your workouts get, the more time your body needs to recover. Rest and recovery allows for your body to decrease the risk of injury, allowing for better gym results in the long run!
