Summer Camp Packing Essentials
As most kids are about to head off to camp, packing them up and sending them off can be pretty overwhelming. Don’t stress, because we’ve got you covered. This post will guide you through all the essentials that you should send your child with to have the summer of their lives. Especially after the year we’ve all had, it’s more important than ever to take extra care to make sure all goes smoothly. Look no further than this article for packing tips!
Very few items on this list are more important than this first one: printed labels. Labels inscribed with your child’s name and your cell/home phone number can be put on clothes, flashlights, camping plates, etc. Nothing is more frustrating than losing an expensive piece of equipment or mixing up shirts, and these labels help alleviate this fear. From personal experience, these labels are so resilient they often stay on items when your child leaves for college!
The second must-have on this list may seem like a no-brainer, but is too important to not mention. Multiple extra pairs of socks and undergarments are critical for kids to pack. With the amount of activities your child is participating in every day, it’s unrealistic to assume that they won’t change (or at least you hope they will!) Having extra pairs of these clothes will prevent your child from getting various infections, and will keep them comfortable.
Sandals/water shoes are the perfect footwear for almost any activity your child will participate in at summer camp. These shoes also act as great shower shoes, keeping your child’s feet free from any germs or bugs.
Most of the housing accommodations your child will stay in at summer camp will be void of all forms of air conditioning. Bringing a small fan will help your child sleep better at night, and provide them with cool relief after a long day of physical activity in the hot summer sun.
It’s imperative to mention the following items for camp packing: ziploc bags, plenty of sunscreen, extra sheets, bath towels, headlamps/flashlights, and a small backpack for everyday use. It’s also important to know what NOT to send your child with. Make sure not to pack any valuables, most forms of technology like smartphones and iPads, expensive headphones, or weapons of any kind like knives, lighters, or fireworks.
