Sometimes finding the right combination of skin care products can be tough. You may even consult friends or family, but what works for them is not going to work for you. Sticking to the routine after you have found it can be complicated. Continue reading for a skin care routine that's easy to stick to.
Cleanser
No matter what skin care routine you consider, they all start with cleansing the skin. You need to wash you face in order to free it of harsh chemicals that you put on it everyday. Before you pick a cleanser, you must know your skin. What type of skin do you have? Skin can be oily, dry, combination, or normal. You should be washing your face at least twice a day. A thing to note about cleansers is that the more foamy they are, the more they are going to dry out your skin. If you already have dry skin, you may not want to use a foaming face wash. Additionally, you should always be using lukewarm water with any product that you choose to cleanse your face with. Cream cleansers or milk cleansers are great for dry and sensitive skin. If you are someone with oily skin or have acne, you should try products like gel cleansers, as they offer a deeper clean. If you are prone to breakouts, then your best bet to try is salicylic acid cleanser. This type of cleanser exfoliates the skin and is a great pimple fighter.
Optional Face Products
Toner is an option product that can be applied after cleaning the skin. It works best when the skin is damp and can lock in the moisture. Toner helps to remove excesses dirt, traces of oil, and makeup from the skin. Many toners are made with alcohol, which can be drying for the skin. You should look for toners without alcohol and that have rose water, chamomile, or green tea. These ingredients have soothing properties. Serum is another optional product that you can add to your skin care routine. Face serum is a deeper lightweight moisturizer. They offer anti-aging benefits to the skin. It should be applied directly onto the face because it can be absorbed quickly by the skin. You should look for serums with vitamin C, which fights any damage the skin may have.
Moisturizer
Everyone needs to moisturize, even if you have oily skin. The best time to apply moisturizer is after you have washed it and its still damp. This is if you are not applying a toner. If you are, then the correct time would be after it. Moisturizing twice a day keeps the skin from drying out. You want to lock in the moisture and keep your face properly hydrated. If you believe that you have oily skin, you should use an oil-free and lightweight moisturizer that won't clog your pores. There is also a proper way to apply moisturizer. You should put a fair amount into the palm of your hand. Then rub together and gently massage the face in circular motions. Moisturizing keeps your skin healthy and glowing!
Sun Protection
Most do not know this, but you should be wearing sunscreen all year long. Most people only wear it in the summer or not at all. This is not only dangerous for your health, but the skin as well. This is the most important step in any skin care routine. The sun is very harmful to the skin and can age your skin prematurely. Protecting your skin will reduce facial brown spots, blotchiness, and discoloration. Sunscreen can also allow the skin to heal itself from any damages it has encountered and function at its best.
