How To Find Your Zen With Meditation

Did you know you can relax without even going anywhere? Meditation has many benefits, and can be done on the move or in any location. All you need is ten minutes and a quiet space to find your zen with meditation. So sit down, focus on your breath, and improve your well-being now with these tips!

Set Aside Time

How To Find Your Zen With Meditation

The first step to find your zen with meditation is choosing a time for it. Even with a hectic schedule, there's always time to fit it in. Plus if you're trying to stick to this habit, it's good to choose a point of the day that you will continue to meditate on a regular basis. Add it to your morning or bedtime routine, or set an alarm as a reminder each day to stop and do it.

Get Into Position

Next is to get comfortable and into your meditation position. If you're uncomfortable, this can be the longest 10 minutes of your life. Find somewhere quiet and private where you're comfortable and won't be disturbed. Then choose a chair or a soft cushion to sit on. Of course, feel free to experiment with different positions. Meditation doesn't have any rules, so you can try it sitting, laying down, with your eyes open or closed - whatever you're comfortable with! Try some different positions each time so see what works best for you.

Focus On Your Breath & Body

Once you’re in a comfortable position, kick off your zen session by focusing on your breathing. Start by taking deep breaths in and count your breaths to help your focus until you feel relaxed. To help you get your breath in rhythm, try to listen to your heart beat and go with a rate that feels right. After your breathing is calmed, it's time to focus on your body. Start with your head and scan your way down your entire body with your mind, going through each of the chakras. You want to take note of any discomforts or aches, feel where your hands are resting, and what your body feels like against the surface. Don't make any adjustments - just become aware of everything.

Have A Guide

How To Find Your Zen With Meditation

Meditation is meant to relax you, not to stress you out more. It's okay if you can't completely clear your head or if your mind wanders. Simply go back to focusing on your breathing when you notice your mind wander, and know you're not doing anything wrong. Meditation is a practice that takes time to master, and sometimes you need a little extra help getting there. Luckily there's a ton of apps and books to use as guides, so don't worry!
